Foreigners who have been working in South Africa on a general work visa or critical skills visa for five consecutive years and received a permanent offer of employment can apply for permanent residence status.

Requirements
  • Must have been the holder of a general work visa or critical skills visa for five consecutive years
  • Must have received a permanent offer of employment
Good To Know
  • This type of permanent residence is usually finalised within 8 months.
  • Once the permanent residence permit is approved, the holder may change their employment freely and does not need to report their new employer to the Department of Home Affairs.
