RELATIVE'S VISA

What is it?

Relatives of a South African citizen or permanent resident within the first or second step of kinship can apply for a relative’s visa for South Africa. This includes spouses, children, siblings, parents and grandparents.
The relative’s visa is issued strictly for residential purposes only and does not allow the holder to conduct work in South Africa. The visa will be valid for a period of two years at a time.
  • The applicant must be the relative of a South African citizen or permanent resident within the first or second step of kinship.
  • The South African relative must provide a financial assurance in the amount of R8.500 per month for the foreign spouse.
  • Relatives within the first step of kinship (i.e. spouses, children and parents) can also apply for permanent residence status as relatives (link to PR relative).
