What is it?

A corporate visa is a temporary work authorisation granted to a corporate entity, which allows the corporate applicant to employ a certain number of foreign nationals for a specific period. The corporate visa is valid for a maximum period of 3 years.
The critical skills visa can be issued for an initial period of 12 months without a listed employer, or for 5 years in combination with a suitable job offer in line with the designated skills category.
  • The employer must provide the employee with a corporate worker certificate based on the employer’s main corporate visa.
  • Foreigners employed on a corporate work visa cannot apply for a change of status or renew their visa in South Africa.
  • Spouses and children can apply for matching dependant visas to accompany the main visa holder to South Africa
  • The time spent working in South Africa on a corporate work visa is not counted towards permanent residence on the basis of permanent employment (link to PRP worker), but may be counted as relevant work experience for critical skills
