What is it?

Foreigners who are the child of a South African citizen or permanent resident can apply for permanent residence status.

Requirements

  • The applicant must be the child of a South African citizen or permanent resident.

Good to know

  • This type of permanent residence usually takes at least 24 months to be finalised.
  • The permanent residence permit shall lapse if the holder does not submit an application for its confirmation within two years of having turned 18 years of age.
